| Sylvia was an active, independent woman in her late 70's when she suffered from a serious health crisis. She spent several weeks in the hospital not knowing whether she would live or die. Refusing to return to her home, she moved in with her daughter out of fear that she would become fatally ill. Once an energetic and healthy senior, she found herself depressed and anxious. Her daughter called Family Service and a counselor helped her work on her moods with relaxation techniques. She was able to pace her way back to some of her old lifestyle activities she so much enjoyed. Sylvia also worked on accepting what activities she could no longer participate in, like golf, which she replaced with sewing. In two months, she moved back to her home and began rebuilding the pieces of her life. |
